We are deeply saddened by the loss of Ömer Faruk Kurhan (Philosophy '91).

Ömer Faruk Kurhan, who graduated from Boğaziçi University Philosophy Department in 1991, passed away on 30 November 2021. His funeral will be buried tomorrow (1 December 2021) in Edirnekapı cemetery. We express our condolences and patience to his family, relatives and friends of the period.

He completed his secondary education at Galatasaray High School, his undergraduate education at Boğaziçi University, Department of Philosophy, and his master's degree at Istanbul University, Department of Theater Criticism and Dramaturgy. She actively entered the field of performing arts during the Boğaziçi University Players (BÜO) period. He took part in the founding staff of Mimesis, which started broadcasting in 1989. Between 1995 and 2000, he was the General Art Director of the Boğaziçi Performing Arts Group (BGST). In 2000-2005, he worked as an editor, translation from English to Turkish and proofreading at Aram Publications, which publishes in Kurdish and Turkish. In the same period, he undertook training and consultancy duties in the Theater Education-Research Unit (Egitim-Sen TEAB), which was established within the body of Istanbul Eğitim-Sen, focusing on collective or open source dramaturgy, playwriting and staging. He summarized his theater experience spanning 20 years in his work titled “20 Years in Theatre” in 2006 and published it in a book. In recent years, he has carried out dramaturgy, text writing and directorial-oriented activities both with an amateur and professional orientation, and took part in the organization of education-research studies.
